Albury Parish Council Committee Structure

(i) Finance, Administration and Personnel
The Finance, Administration and Personnel committee is responsible for all the ‘back office’ functions of the Parish Council including budget and precept, the clerk's and other employees wages and contracts, capital, equipment and other expenditure, insurance, risk assessments, financial standing orders and adherence to accounting regulations.

Together with the Parish Clerk the committee is also responsible for pursuing Quality Status for the Parish Council. Chair: John Brockwell. Members: Jackie Chapman, Roy Hogben, Grahame Robinson, Peter Gellatly.

(ii) Planning
The Planning Committee is responsible for monitoring planning applications affecting the Parish and advising Borough and County planners of Parish Council objections as appropriate. The committee also takes a pro-active role in communication with neighbours who are affected by applications.

Members: Jeremy Croucher, Prue von Radowitz, Grahame Robinson, John Brockwell.

(iii) Highways and Byways
The Highways and Byways Committee terms of reference include road maintenance, traffic calming, road signs, street lighting, traffic safety, speed limits, parking, pavements and bus shelters and regular inspection of all verges.

Chair: Roy Hogben.
Members: Peter Gellatly, Grahame Robinson, Jeremy Croucher, Prue von Radowitz, Chris Pollard (resident member).

(iv) Recreation, Open Spaces and the Environment
The Recreation, Open Spaces and Environment Committee is responsible for all recreation facilities in the parish, including Albury Village Hall, Recreation fields, Albury Village Green, Farley Green and Farley Green Pond. It is also responsible for the regular inspection of all footpaths and bridleways, waste management and the organisation of clean up days.

(v) Community Development and Communication
This Community Development and Communication committee is responsible for the development of a Parish Plan which will set out the major goals to be achieved during the current 4 year term of the council to form the basis form the basis of activity and investment in the community. Other key areas of responsibility of this committee include:

  • Liaison with local 3rd party organisations including other parish councils, Albury Estate, the PCC, The Albury Trust, residents associations, the Produce Association, Albury Cricket and Football Club, the History Society and the WI
  • crime and safety
  • communication with residents including Notice Boards, the Parish Magazine and the Web Site
